Diamond Buying Guide
The Four Cs: The Foundation of Diamond Quality
The Four Cs help describe a diamond, but they do not always tell the full story of how beautiful it will look in real life.
What the Four Cs actually tell you
The Four Cs—Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight—are the international standards used to evaluate diamonds. Together, they help describe a diamond's quality, appearance, and value. While each characteristic plays an important role, they do not contribute equally to beauty. A well-balanced diamond is the result of understanding how these characteristics work together rather than simply chasing the highest grades.
Beyond the Certificate
The report is only the beginning.
Many buyers assume the highest grades automatically create the most beautiful diamond. In reality, the smartest purchase is often the one that balances beauty, performance, and value. We help customers understand which grades are worth paying for and which upgrades may not be visible in everyday wear.
Do all Four Cs matter equally?
No. All four characteristics matter, but Cut has the strongest influence on how lively and brilliant a diamond appears.
Is the highest grade always the best choice?
Not always. Some upgrades are difficult to see without magnification or side-by-side comparison, which means your budget may be better used elsewhere.
Where should I start?
Start with Cut. Once light performance is strong, you can balance color, clarity, and carat weight around your preferences and budget.
